Peak Universal Bond Total-Etch Kit has a versatile formulation that is ideal for indirect and direct bonding, including post and core procedures, it saves you time and money by eliminating the need for material-sensitive products and reducing inventory in your office. It can be used with a self-etch or total-etch technique.
It is 7.5% filled with an ethyl alcohol solvent carrier and will cure with most high intensity lights, including LEDs. Its viscosity has been optimised for minimal film thickness (2µm) and superior strength. The addition of 0.2% chlorhexidine in Peak Universal Bond may provide the added benefit of improving long-term bond strengths.
The Peak Universal Adhesive System features a universal bonding agent that is compatible with both self-etch and total-etch techniques. Its universal formulation works with all bonding substrates-including dentin, enamel, porcelain, metal, composite, and zirconia, and it provides superior bond strengths, making it the ideal choice for all bonding procedures.
Because bonding success begins with a quality etch, Ultra-Etch is formulated to create an optimally prepared surface for bonding-resin penetration. When Peak Universal Bond is applied to the prepared surface, the result is unsurpassed bond strength and complete resin impregnation without voids, which reduces the possibility of residual patient sensitivity.
Peak Universal Bond contains a 0.2% concentration of chlorhexidine, which may ensure long-term bond strengths. Its viscosity has been optimised for minimal film thickness (2µm) and superior strength.

Q: How dry does the prep tooth need to be prior to applying Peak Universal Bond?
A: It is ideal to leave the prep tooth slightly moist because it allows PUB to perform at its fullest potential. But what happens when conditions aren't perfect and the prep is more on the wet or dry side. Ultradent's R&D team recently did some bond strength testing to show how less-than-ideal conditions affect Peak's performance. The results tell us that too little or too much moisture will decrease Peak's bond strengths. But it's nice to know that those bond strengths are still on the high end of the spectrum if a clinician happens to overdo it on wetting or drying. Here are the results: Heavy moisture 1ml water applied to sample and no air thinning 59.76 MPa Moderate moisture 5ml water applied and air thinned to visible and consistent layer 63.49 MPa Slight moisture (Recommended) 5ml water applied and air thinned to moist appearance, no puddles 70.97 MPa No moisture No water applied, sample air dried 59.42 MPa -
Q: I've been a PQ1 user for a long time. Why would I want to switch to Peak Universal Bond?
A: Peak Universal Bond is the result of years of research and development, and there are a lot of advantages Peak Universal Bond offers. For example, Peak Universal Bond is only 7.5% filled where PQ1 is 40% filled, yet Peak Universal Bond offers higher bond strengths than PQ1 (71.3 MPa vs. 62.8 MPa, respectively). Also, Peak Universal Bond works with both self-etch and total-etch techniques while PQ1 only works with the total-etch technique. Finally, Peak Universal Bond includes chlorhexidine (0.2%), which may ensure long-term bond strengths. PQ1 does not. -
Q: Can I use a chlorhexidine product like Consepsis in conjunction with Peak Universal Bond?
A: Yes, but the appropriate time to use it will depend on the technique you use. If you're using a self-etch technique, apply the chlorhexidine before etching. If you're using a total-etch technique, apply chlorhexidine after the etchant has been rinsed and before Peak Universal Bond is placed. -
Q: Bonding sensitivity - How are bonding agents able to reduce or even eliminate postoperative tooth sensitivity?
A: The pulp is very sensitive to hydraulic pressure, which causes a patient to experience postoperative sensitivity. Hydraulic pressure occurs when air is caught in the dentinal tubules after bonding. The best way to prevent air in the tubules is to use a quality bonding adhesive that leverages a small amount of moisture on the prep to work in its favor. With Ultradent's Peak Universal Bond adhesive, the tooth's moisture plays a key role in quality bonding and reducing sensitivity. The solvent carrier chases water and brings the resin with it to the depth of the etching pattern within the dentinal tubules. When the resin reaches to the depth of the etched tubule, then there is no osmotic movement of the fluids inside the tubules, therefore postoperative sensitivity is eliminated. When the prep is too dry, the bonding agent can't flow as deeply and leaves air trapped in the tubules after polymerisation. Applying Peak Universal Bond adhesive with a gentle scrubbing motion for 10 seconds ensures that the resin will penetrate deeply into the dentinal tubules, reducing the potential for any voids that cause postoperative sensitivity for your patients. -
Q: What is the Peak Universal Bond film thickness? Sometimes dentists fear that the fitting of a crown when luting could be affected.
A: Peak Universal Bond (PUB) has an extraordinary thin film thickness: Only 2 µm! Therefore, the fitting of indirect restorations is not affected. Additionally, Peak Universal Bond has 7,5% nano filler, this avoids an excessive thinning. This leads to a complete covering and an even surface, so highest bond strengths are achieved. To get a thin film, you should air-thin the Peak Universal Bond till the bond layer looks like a layer of a thin foil.
